GROW: Using Data to Understand Malnutrition and Diets in Cambodia
Drivers of malnutrition come in all forms and shapes. To grasp the relationship that underpins malnutrition characteristics and the specific environment they are found in, a true data deep-dive is required: From panel surveys, academic journals, VAM data and grey literature, data forms the backbone of every Fill the Nutrient Gap Analysis and the questions asked in the process: What proportion of the population can afford a diet that provides the nutrients required to prevent malnutrition? Which vulnerable groups are the most expensive to meet nutrient needs for? How does the cost of a nutritious diet change if unhealthy snacks are consumed regularly – as found by research? What is the impact of home gardens on affordability of a nutritious diet?
This presentation will visualize how Fill the Nutrient Gap Analysis has used different sources and types of data to inform a comprehensive picture of the nutrition situation in Cambodia and interventions to improve it.
